Control arms

Front and rear control arms, with their bushings and ball joint where the original has them, that connect the wheel hub to the body and let the wheel move up and down while staying aligned, for European and Japanese passenger cars.

FUHRLENK control arms: a forged aluminium arm and a pressed steel arm, each with its bushings and ball joint

A control arm, also called a wishbone or a track control arm, connects the wheel hub or steering knuckle to the body or the subframe. It pivots on rubber bushings at the body end and carries a ball joint at the wheel end, so the wheel can move up and down with the suspension and turn with the steering while staying aligned with the frame.

Control arms are made of pressed steel, forged steel or forged aluminium. Their bushings isolate road vibration and set the compliance of the suspension; their ball joint carries the vertical load of the vehicle on many front-wheel-drive layouts.

FUHRLENK control arms are supplied complete with their bushings and, where the original has one, with the ball joint fitted. They are made to OEM-compliant quality and tested for durability and temperature resistance.

The range covers European and Japanese passenger cars. Each reference is identified by the OE number of the original part; send that number and the vehicle identification number (VIN) and we confirm the matching FUHRLENK reference.

Frequently asked questions

What are the signs of a worn control arm?
A knock or clunk from the front over bumps, steering that veers to one side over bumps or under hard acceleration, and uneven tyre wear. The wear is usually in the bushings or the ball joint rather than in the arm itself; a workshop checks for play with a lever or wheel play detectors and looks for torn rubber and split ball joint boots.
