A ball joint is a spherical bearing: a hardened steel stud with a ball on one end, seated in a socket inside a steel housing, sealed by a rubber dust boot. It connects the control arm to the steering knuckle and lets the knuckle pivot as the suspension travels and as the wheel is steered.
On a MacPherson strut front axle the lower ball joint locates the knuckle and takes side loads; on a double-wishbone axle one of the two joints carries the weight of the vehicle. When the joint wears, the stud moves in its socket and the wheel angle is no longer held: the result is knocking over bumps, vague steering and uneven tyre wear, and in the end a joint that can separate.
FUHRLENK ball joints are supplied with their fixing bolts, washers and locking nuts where the original is fitted that way. They are made to OEM-compliant quality and tested for durability and temperature resistance.
The range covers European and Japanese passenger cars. Each reference is identified by the OE number of the original part; send that number and the vehicle identification number (VIN) and we confirm the matching FUHRLENK reference.
